Vinitaly: more and more a reference for Italian wine.

In the Italian wine sector, there has been discussion for years about the need for a control room to make the promotion and valorization of our wines on the markets, especially foreign ones, more effective and efficient.

However, it has never been possible to go beyond the wishes due to the difficulties in operationally defining which body/institution should be entrusted with this function.

With the arrival of Federico Bricolo as President of Veronafiere, the issue has been resolved in practice because Vinitaly has implemented initiatives that are leading it to naturally assume the role of reference and coordination for the valorization of Italian wine.

After the recent collaboration with Merano Wine Festival for the organization of the Amphora Revolution event, yesterday the one with Gambero Rosso was announced for Vinitaly USA, which will be held in Chicago on October 20 and 21.

The 2024 edition will be the first of Vinitaly USA, an event that gathers the experience of past roadshows in a structured fair organized by Veronafiere and Fiere Italiane in synergy with the ICE Agency and the collaboration of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce of Chicago.

Hundreds of wineries from all over the peninsula have already joined this new event that brings Vinitaly directly to the first export market of Italian wine, in addition to the collective exhibition areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio-Arsial, Campania and Sardinia.

In the spaces of the Navy Pier exhibition center that juts out onto Lake Michigan, Gambero Rosso will bring the preview of the 500 wines awarded with the Tre Bicchieri in the next Guida Vini d’Italia 2025, adding an element of attraction for American operators and opinion leaders.

In addition to the walk around tasting, two masterclasses by Gambero Rosso are scheduled during Vinitaly USA: the first dedicated to the special awards of the new edition of the Guide, the ‘best of the best’, and the other on the ‘beginner Tre Bicchieri.’

The program of the fair, still being finalized, includes Vinitaly International Academy sessions, masterclasses led by Wine Enthusiast and Decanter and the tasting of the 6 wines awarded at the World Wine Awards by Michela Morris.

Vinitaly USA will also feature the area dedicated to Vinitaly Tasting, the wine shop for international operators, with a selection of 66 labels.

With Vinitaly USA Veronafiere expands the opportunity for Italian wineries to meet with qualified operators in the American wine business, especially importers and distributors, with the aim of further strengthening our presence in what is the world’s leading wine import market and where Italy is the undisputed leader in volume with over 3 million hl for a value of 2 billion euros shipped overseas.
