The 14th edition of the Paestum Wine Fest opens this week, an event that has managed to grow and carve out an important space for itself among the events dedicated to wine in central and southern Italy.
In recent years, the event created by Angelo Zarra and developed with the collaboration of Alessandro Rossi in the role of Director, has evolved in the direction of giving more and more space to business. An orientation that is highlighted first of all by the dates of the Paestum Wine Fest: from Sunday 4 to Tuesday 6 May.
After the Sunday dedicated to wine lovers, in the following two days the event will attract trade operators, including 20 foreign buyers selected by PWF organization.
The venue of the event is again the NEXT – Nuova Esposizione Ex Tabacchificio di Cafasso which, however, presents itself with a renewed layout created by the architect Fiorenzo Valbonesi, who designed essential and refined exhibition structures in contrast with the agro-industrial style of the 1920s that characterizes the building.
Many masterclasses are planned over the three days, ranging from Cannonau, Friuli DOC wines, Etna, Chianti Classico Lamole di Lamole, Chardonnay, Salerno wines, Cabernet Franc by Tenuta Argentiera, still wines produced by the Lunelli family, Soave by Inama to conclude the Langhe wines.
The conference program is also rich on the topics of market trends, wine in catering and wine tourism.
The initiative of the Wine Club of the Paestum Wine Fest is especially original. Created in collaboration with the Cantina San Salvatore 1988 and curated by Matteo Zappile, the aim of the Wine Club is enhancing the role of the sommelier looking and wine service with in a 360° vision that includes wines communication and knowledge transmission.
This year’s Paestum Wine Fest Wine Club includes 23 Sommeliers from starred restaurants across the peninsula, and five of these Sommeliers will be the protagonists of the “Pair an emotion” tasting. This tasting will be held on Monday 5 May at 12:30, and Sommeliers wouldn’t pair wine with a dish but with … a book.
This unusual tasting is part of a rich program with 20 events including master classes, conferences and show cooking, in which a large and qualified audience of operators in the sector will participate.
For opinion leaders and industry experts, Charlie Arturaola, Chiara Giannotti, Eros Teboni, Andrea Gori, Sandro Camilli, Leila Salimbeni, Paola Restelli, Roberto Parodi, Davide Gangi, Errico Cecchetti, Francesca Negri, Vincenzo Russo, Domenico Apicella, Titti Dell’Erba, Marco Di Buono, Federico Menetto, Anna Mazzotti, Federico Latteri, Fabrizio Carrera, Bruno Petronilli, Malinda Sassu, Maria Cerino will be on stage.
