Pinot Noir is, without a doubt, one of the few black grape varieties that is not suffering from market disaffection. In Alto Adige, from 16 to 18 May, the usual Pinot Noir Days will be held, in conjunction with the great tasting that will culminate with the National Pinot Noir Competition. It is now an unmissable event for lovers of this grape and its wines. Alto Adige is also a land suited for this grape variety typical of the colder regions.

An event that will be held between Egna and Montagna

As per tradition, the 27th edition will also take place in the wine villages of Egna and Montagna and will feature all the wines of the National Competition, which takes place – behind closed doors – at the beginning of May. The focus of this edition is the 2022 vintage, with 116 wines from: Trentino, Valle d’Aosta, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Piedmont, Lombardy, Tuscany, Umbria, Sicily and, of course, the host region, Alto Adige.

Thanks to this wide geographical spread, we can give our public an idea of how different this grape variety can be depending on the terroir, tradition and style; I am sure that there will be no shortage of nice surprises and this year we have also reached the record number of wines tasted, we are very satisfied”, says Ines Giovanett, president of the Organizing Committee of the Alto Adige Pinot Noir Days.

The 2024 Winners

First the National Competition and then the great tasting

On Friday 16 May the Days will open with the award ceremony for the winning wines of the Competition at the Castello di Enna in Montagna. “The competition represents an event to celebrate not only the historicity of a grape variety that has marked the winemaking tradition of our country, but also the extraordinary quality of the jurors involved. Their experience and expertise are a guarantee of a careful and rigorous selection”, underlines Marc Pfitscher, vice-president of the Organizing Committee and head of the Competition

After the opening ceremony, all the wines of the Competition will be available for tasting at the Klösterle di Laghetti in Egna from 4 to 6 pm. To participate, you must book through the website: www.blauburgunder.it
