TACOLI ASQUINI TRAMINER AROMATICO 2023

Cosima Grisancich

Traminer Aromatico, also known as Gewurztraminer, is a grape variety that fascinates with its exuberant olfactory notes. Characterized by an intense bouquet of tropical fruit, flowers and sweet spices, this wine is easily distinguished by its unmistakable aroma.

Grown mainly in France, Traminer Aromatico has also found suitable areas in Italy, especially in Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Friuli, in particular, offers a combination of terroir and climate that enhances the qualities of this grape variety, making it an undisputed protagonist of the local winemaking tradition.

In Bicinicco, in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Tacoli Asquini company operates in an area that perfectly represents the link between wine and territory. The property is developed around the ancient family villa, characterized by a tower dating back to the 16th century; the winery, inaugurated in 1836, has three rooms, one of which is for retail sales.

The 23 hectares of vineyards, all located in the area called Friuli Grave, are characterized by soils rich in pebbles deposited over the millennia by the Meduna, Cellina and Tagliamento rivers. These rounded white stones favor optimal drainage of the land, and also retain the heat of the sun during the day, releasing it during the night.

The 2023 Traminer Aromatico is vinified and matured exclusively in steel to keep its primary aromas intact. The vinification takes place through a delicate pressing of the grapes, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature. This practice allows to preserve the characteristics of the vine, creating an intense and complex wine.

On the nose it presents itself with a bouquet rich in hints of rose, exotic fruits such as pineapple and lychee, accompanied by nuances of sweet spices. In the mouth the wine is soft, with a good acidity that balances the sweetness of the aromas, making it fresh and pleasant. The finish is long and citrusy.

As for pairings, the 2023 Traminer Aromatico lends itself to numerous culinary combinations: it goes wonderfully with spicy dishes, typical of Asian cuisine, goes well with goat cheeses, smoked salmon and surprises with not excessively sweet desserts such as maracuja (passion fruit) cheesecake.

In conclusion, the Traminer Aromatico by Tacoli Asquini represents not only a quality wine, but also an interpretation of this grape variety in a Friulian key, capable of transmitting emotions with every sip.
